HR Manager - Chinese Speaking (Individual Contributor)
Remote • Malaysia • Full-time
About the Job:
We’re Hiring: HR Manager (Chinese speaking)
Hands-On Individual Contributor | L&D | Performance | Payroll | C&B | HR Process Improvement
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time
Role Type: Individual Contributor — No Direct Reports
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced HR Manager who has a strong track record of working as a hands-on individual contributor.
This is not a people-management or purely supervisory role. We need someone who is comfortable personally doing the work, managing HR processes from start to finish, solving operational issues, and continuously improving how HR operates.
The successful candidate should have proven experience in Learning & Development, Performance Management and KPI administration, Payroll, Compensation & Benefits, employee lifecycle processes, HR reporting, and documentation.
We are especially interested in candidates who can demonstrate that they have not only maintained existing HR processes, but have also identified problems, improved workflows, introduced better controls, reduced manual work, or helped automate HR processes.
A strong growth mindset is essential. You should be curious, adaptable, willing to learn new systems and technologies, and comfortable challenging inefficient ways of working.
What You’ll Own:
- Manage Learning & Development end to end, including training needs analysis, planning, coordination, tracking, evaluation, certification, and reporting.
- Manage Performance Management and KPI processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, probation reviews, performance improvement plans, and KPI tracking.
- Coordinate and validate payroll processing, including attendance, leave, overtime, allowances, deductions, salary adjustments, and employee movements.
- Manage Compensation & Benefits administration, including salary and benefits data, allowances, employee changes, and supporting documentation.
- Handle key employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, confirmation, employee movements, and offboarding.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS information, payroll data, and HR documentation.
- Prepare HR reports, dashboards, workforce analysis, and management information.
- Work directly with employees and managers to resolve day-to-day HR operational matters.
- Review existing HR processes and identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, improve, and automate workflows.
- Develop and improve SOPs, process maps, forms, templates, controls, and user guides.
- Participate in or lead HR automation and digital improvement projects.
- Explore practical use of AI and automation tools for HR reporting, documentation, learning, recruitment, analytics, employee forms, approvals, and workflows.
- Coordinate with Finance, IT, managers, vendors, payroll providers, and benefits providers as required.
- Take ownership of assigned HR projects from problem identification through implementation and follow-through.
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
HR Technology & Automation:
Experience in any of the following is an advantage:
- HR workflow automation.
- HRIS implementation or improvement.
- Microsoft Power Automate / Power Apps.
- Microsoft 365 / SharePoint.
- ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or other AI tools.
- AI-enabled workflow automation.
- HR dashboards and reporting automation.
- Automated payroll, attendance, performance, or L&D workflows.
- Low-code / no-code platforms.
Candidates without direct automation experience may still be considered if they demonstrate strong digital capability, curiosity, and the ability to quickly learn and apply new tools.
Preferred Background:
- Experience in a multinational, FMCG, manufacturing, food, or fast-growing organization.
- Experience supporting multiple departments, locations, or regional employees.
- Exposure to HRIS implementation, migration, or digital transformation.
- Experience developing HR dashboards, KPI reports, or workforce analytics.
- Experience improving HR processes rather than simply maintaining existing ones.
Who Will Succeed in This Role:
You will likely be a strong fit if you are someone who:
- Is comfortable being a one-person owner of an HR process.
- Does not wait for someone else to do the operational work.
- Can move from analysis to execution.
- Notices inefficient processes and actively improves them.
- Can build structure where processes are unclear.
- Uses data to identify issues and support decisions.
- Learns new systems and technology quickly.
- Is comfortable testing better ways of working.
- Takes ownership and follows through until the work is completed.
We are looking for someone who can run HR processes, improve them, and help build a more efficient and technology-enabled HR function — not someone whose experience has primarily been managing or delegating work to an HR team.
